Health trends change constantly, and it can be sometimes hard to to know which ones are true or not. Health is also very important, helping an individual reach their full potential. Here are a few debunked myths vs. facts about eating healthy.
1. Diet soda is better than regular soda.
Yes, regular soda has much more sugar than diet soda, however there are more hidden and harmful ingredients in diet soda than one may think. Diet soda has artificial sweeteners, making your body crave more sugar, making you consume more calories. Those who drink diet soda are also more prone to heart attacks and strokes.
However, regular soda is also not really great for your body either. With all the sugar in there, you can get tooth cavities, asthma, and osteoporosis. So, It is better to just stay away from all of these.
2. Multi grains are better than white breads.
This is not true. In multi grain breads, food companies use refined grains to make some multi grain breads, filtering out nutrients. Instead, you should look for whole wheat breads. They contain nutrient rich bran and germ to reduce the risk of heart diseases and diabetes. Be sure to look for labels with 100% whole wheat bread.
3. Soy is a healthy food.
This is not true. Unfermented soy products can be harmful for diets, and many studies linked unfermented soy foods to many diseases like digestive disorders, the breakdown of the immune system, and other diseases. The fact is is if it is organic and properly fermented that it can be consumed in limited quantities.
