Drake and The Weeknd have both taken the music industry by storm. Charting Billboard chart after Billboard chart, both Torontonians have a great impact on the music industry. You have to wonder if their Toronto Sound has influenced all these upcoming artist. Are these pioneers the reason for Toronto's Sound being at the fore front?

Drake being the first artist from Toronto to break out started his career as an actor. He eventually left his acting career to pursue music with his producer OVO 40. Aubrey "Drake" Graham would soon to change the stigma of what a rapper should be. In some sense, he brought sensitivity towards the way he attacks his music. This at the time was rare for a rapper to be sensitive and in tune with their feelings. With Drake in 2008 blowing up with his debut single "Best I Ever Had" there was room for more Toronto talent to break out. Toronto producer Boi Wonda was producing songs for Drake during his early days with Lil Wayne. In 2009 Wonda would produce the hit single of Eminem's "Not Afraid" which would win Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards for " Best Hip Hop Song." In early 2010, The Weeknd was an Indie Pop Artist until he met producer Jeremy Rose. Rose was responsible in pushing The Weeknd's sounds into sex, party, drugs, just an overall dark sound. This sound would lead Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye's debut mixtape to an instant classic called "House of Balloons." Tesfaye would take the sensitivity that drake influenced on Toronto artist, but recreate it to a darker, bitter, further depressed perspective. This would add an influence on the Toronto sound.

After the Drake and the Weeknd's influential sound, many Toronto artist would add to the Toronto sound. PartyNextDoor and Tory Lanez both R&B artist would market their music towards females as Drake has. Nav a Toronto producer and artist would eventually direct his sound towards the drugs and party scene of the music industry as the Weeknd did. Lastly upcoming artist Daniel Cesar in slowly imputing a soul sound that has never been heard before. This will elevate Toronto's sound to higher levels. American artist have cited Drake and The Weeknd as influences on their sound of music such as Bryson Tiller. Many places around the world welcomed and adapted the Toronto Sound, especially at live event like Coachella, Veld, And UK Tours.

Will the Toronto Sound Stay? Well with numerous new Toronto Artist adding their own taste to the Toronto Sound, it looks as if the culture Toronto has been showcasing will stay for a while. Toronto has officially taken over the game !
