Precautions for Online Shopping and Meet-up

We live in a era of time where we can access anything we want by a touch or swipe on our screens. It is great that we in 2017 can shop online, more importantly meet with buyers or customers. Apps like Kijiji and Letgo are great for selling or buying products. But with such a creation of business, there are precautions that are spoken about when proceeding meet ups.

Here are rules that need to be educated towards anyone participating in online meet ups:

1) When negotiating deals on the app, make sure you DO NOT give any personal information that they can use against you.

2) When meeting up with customer/seller always request to meet in a busy area. This is to make sure you have any witnesses during the transaction. If the buyer steals the item you were selling without paying, you have witnesses to stop any theft. Recommended places to meet are Malls, Cafeterias, or High End Stores near staff. If buyer insist on meeting somewhere where it is private, decline meet-up!

3) When meeting with customer/seller , always bring three to four people to also stand as witnesses for your safety

4) Try to make a small conversation with whoever your transaction is with, they are as nervous as you are nervous. This will help them trust you as a customer/seller and will potentially lead to them wanting to business with you.

5) Before proceeding in a meet up during negotiating stages, always ask for pictures of all sections on the item. You never want to show up to a meet up, and buy an item that looks nothing like what you payed for. Demand for pictures of the clothing or items itself, tags, sizes, possible receipts, where they bought the item, and how long ago.
