It is no secret that the Nike company has been the influential top dog for the last couple of decades. But in recent years, Adidas manages to compete with the dominance of Nike and has lately surpassed Nike in marketing towards the youth. Nike is known for the dramatic " Just do it " inspirational commercials. But it has come to a point where Nike does the same predictable routine of marketing their company. By signing established athletes, with secured names, and by releasing new sneakers that rip off their previous successful shoes. This is why they resort to rereleasing old shoes that sold more back in the day.
Adidas is winning the market war for various reasons. The major reason is the diverse group of icons they sign. Not only to do they sign athletes but they sign musical artist. A big part of Adidas success is due to the "Yeezy Boost" sneaker which is commercially known by hip hop legend Kanye West. Hip Hop artist Travis $cott having 2017 collaborations with the Adidas Gazelle Sneakers extend the brand to rap fans. Fashion Icon A$ap Rocky has lately proceeding in collaboration with the brand Palace; is a sub company of Adidas. This street-wear brand is extremely rare which makes buyers more intrigued on buying the product. Lastly Pharell has had a tremendous impact by collaborating with Adidas. The "Pharell NMD" sneakers are already a collector's item leading them to success. The Adidas ``Tabulators`` and the Adidas ``Ultra Boost`` has added hype to the list of successful shoes in 2017. The retro Adidas ``Superstars`` were the number selling shoe in 2016, the Adidas Soccer Striped Pants were the number selling sports pants in 2014. With that momentum they have not looked back.
Heading into 2017, they have signed NBA Canadian prodigy Andrew Wiggins for his exclusive shoe. This is a smart move due to the loyalty of Canadian fans that would be buying his shoedue to his nationality. By signing upcoming NBA Most Valuable Player Candidates James Harden, and Damian Lillard, they are already preparing for the success of future superstars. Adidas has let their athletes & artist have input on the creation on the shoe.
It is clear that Adidas is beating Nike for marketing the youth. They project diversity for their shoes and apparel while keeping certain products exclusive enough to having buyers wanting more. Adidas has presented their recent apparel and footwear with comfort and swagger. The main subject they market towards the youth is culture, which is something that fans around the world can connect towards. So hop on the trend, buy Adidas shoes, apparel, merchandise. Represent the three stripes. Join the culture!
