Lately it has been in the news that NBA players are cable of receive a crazy amount of money. Superstars players like Chris Paul, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, James, Harden and more could receive around 350 million dollars when their previous contract is up. This is because the NBA (National Basketball Association) has agreed to a new deal with its CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) to increase the salary cap for the team and the association as a whole. This agreement makes each team a lot more richer having 102 million dollars to be spread around 15 players each season. Every year after that, the salary cap will keep increasing which makes NBA players so much richer in the future.
This agreement also want to make superstar player stay loyal to their team. They made this decision after NBA superstar, Kevin Durant that played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, went to a really good team just win championships. The NBA did not really like his decision to do that because, the NBA becomes really uncompetitive making the team that he went to very dominant. They decided, that the superstar players for each team are able to receive a lot more money than anyone else, so they can stay loyal to their franchise.
They also agreed that if players play to their superstar status, they can get a bonus for making an All-Star team or an All-NBA team. If they also receive an award at the end of the season like MVP(Most Valuable Player), DPOY(Defensive Player Of The Year) or any awards like that, they can rewarded with even MORE money.
